About This Study

These pages invite you to download or study online, and to decide in the light of Scripture what God’s plan is for the resurrection of His saints.

What this study assumes

Christians may believe differently on some non-salvation issues. For the purposes of this study, the author assumes that a Christian using it understands the following:

  • Although written by many men over hundreds of years, the Bible is the inspired word of a single author: God.
  • The Bible is inerrant. It does not contradict itself.
  • A Christian’s understanding of every belief comes from the Bible, not from men’s opinions.
  • Christ will come back for His saints.
  • We are in the last days.
  • Satan is real and, through the Antichrist, will make war on the followers of Christ.
  • There will be a period of Great Tribulation on the earth.
  • There will be a resurrection preceding a literal 1,000-year reign of Christ over the nations.
  • There will be a Great Judgment, where all men will be judged by God.
  • After the judgment, God’s children will live for eternity in heaven, and non-believers will be separated from God.
  • The Bible is a complete work. God’s message to us is clear and consistent from the Old Testament to the New, with no need for other “revelations”, additional books or prophets.

Testing what we read

God’s Scripture provides the perfect context for its intended message. A doctrine derived from one isolated scripture, interpreted out of context and not in agreement with the rest of the text, is a red flag that we have misinterpreted it. Understandings that do not agree with the Scriptures as a whole are invalid.

As followers, we are called to test everything presented to us in the light of Scripture. If what we test agrees with Scripture, we must accept the message as from God. If, after testing, we choose not to accept what we read, we have still made a choice. We must then ask ourselves what source of information supersedes what is written in the Bible.
